Thank you for your interest in hosting students at your organisation for the upcoming semester. Providing as much detail about the placement and any other organisation specific requirements assists in the most appropriate allocation of students.
Social Work and Human Services Placement Requirements
Bachelor of Social Work (MBSW)
Third and fourth year students attend a placement between three and five days per week, for a total of 500 hours (approx 68 FTE days) per placement. Third year students complete first placement in Semester 1. Fourth year students complete final placement in Semester 2. Please note: the BSW is a four year social work program and students on placement are either in their third or fourth year.
Master of Social Work (MMSK)
First and second year students attend a placement between three and five days per week, for a total of 500 hours (approx 68 FTE days) per placement. Both first and second placement students complete placement in Semester 2. Please note: the MSW is a two year qualifying program where students have a relevant bachelor’s degree but not a prior social work degree.
Bachelor of Social Science (Human Services) or (Ageing & Disability) (MBSS)
Final year students attend 2 placements between two and five days per week, for a total of 280 (approx 37 FTE days) per placement. Placement A is completed in Semester 1 and Placement B is completed in Semester 2.
