When FIRST receiving chiropractic adjustments or when RETURNING after a break from chiropractic care, any of the following are possible.
These results or outcomes may occur after one adjustment or a series of adjustments:
- You may not at first notice significant change - the body often needs repetition to learn new habits and heal AND if you are in an acute situation it can take time for the inflammation and other crisis effects to subside.
- You may notice improvement - anywhere from feeling a little better, through to experiencing significant improvement or anything in-between. You may also notice improvement in other aspects of your health, function or wellbeing, sometimes despite your original symptoms not showing immediate change.
- Aggravation: it may seem as though your health challenge (or specific symptoms) have worsened. This is common and tends to be because chiropractic care is forcing your body to change and confront its patterns or habits of adaptation including muscular tension, inflammation, postural distortion and similar. This may also directly relate to the crisis activities in the body subsiding.
Any of these outcomes are possible.
Aggravations (if they occur) tend be short-term.
MEDICATION:
Many clients experience great health improvements beyond musculo-skeletal effects and it is common for people to report changes in medical conditions that may result in the reduction of medication-use.
Changes to medications or management of medical conditions does need to remain between you and your GP or specialist, although we would ask you to report such changes to us.
